It’s been a few weeks since I’ve put some pictures on the blog… so, it’s about time… right?
Friday, during the week of packing, Zoe and I took a day off and headed to Orlando to see some old friends of mine from Michigan. It was a great day, a day away from chaos.
The next day was our last with Hemmmingway. This was the last picture I took of the two of them together….
God. Doesn’t that just make you tear up? ‘Cause I can’t look at it without wanting to bawl my eyes out. Moving on…
Have you ever tried unpacking with a toddler at your feet? This is what it looks like…
Zoe asked to be wrapped up after I finished wrapping a birthday present for a little boy {with girly wrapping paper and yellow duct tape… just call me resourceful}
My little darling Zoebear, cute as can possibly be. She loves to wear frilly things and then run to the mirror to check herself out, and… of course… run to Daddy to make sure he approves. I’m not making this up.
Sometimes we like to wear headbands.
But, what we like to do even MORE is help Mommy make pasta salad {translation: eat all the olives out of the bowl one at a time}
Sing with me people… {And picture Ben Affleck on Armageddon singing to Liv Tyler. Or, just picture Ben Afleck…}
All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go. I’m standing here outside your door. I hate to wake you up to say goodbye.
‘Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again. Leaving on jet plane….
And, now I have Brad quoting Armageddon on the couch right beside me.
It’s a wonderful world I live in….
Anyways, I’m not actually leaving on a jet plane, and at the time of writing this, my bags are not actually packed. But, in a few hours, I will be leaving in a car, and my bags will be packed. So help me God. Brad actually asked me on Wednesday night if I was packed yet for my trip. Silly boy. I don’t pack until the very last minute, because I have more important things to do first…
Like, doing a clay mask facial.
And painting my toenails.
But, none of that tells you where I’m going. I’m headed down to Orlando for the OneThing Regional Conference. You know, just hanging out with Misty Edwards and Mike Bickle… no big deal. How’d this all come about? Well, remember my mentor Kim that I talk about every once in a while? She found out about this conference in November and gave me this weekend as my Christmas present. I’m so geeked I can’t even tell you.
I mean.
A weekend, in a nice hotel, with people that I like, sleeping in on Sunday morning, spending crazy incredible time in the presence of God, finally… after all these years and all of my friends going to OneThing… finally being in the room where Misty is singing, sleeping in on Sunday morning {did I mention that?}, having a weekend away…
I’m really super excited.
Brad, is {I think} really super nervous about being the only parent for the weekend. He’s a champ, and he’s going to do a fantastic job. Brad has always given me freedom to have evenings away from the house… so he’s definitely used to the single dad role. But, remember when I went to Savannah back in September? Yeah… Zoe’s a heck of a lot more active than she was back then. A heck of a lot more active. But, he has both sides of the family in town, and my best friend offered to babysit on Saturday to give him a little break if he needs it. So, he really is going to be fine.
But, still?
Single parenting is h-a-r-d. Wish him luck!
So, that’s that. I’m off to have a great Daddy/Daughter weekend with God, and Brad is holding the fort down and about to have a great Daddy/Daughter weekend with Zoe. It’s gonna be a blast!
See you guys Monday…. Happy Friday Ya’ll!
PS. Mike Bickle is the pastor at IHOP in Kansas City. Misty Edwards is one of/the lead worship people there. When I first started listening to her music, I was in awe of the power that was coming out of her vocal chords. When I saw a video on Youtube {like a year later because I’m that up to speed on things} I couldn’t BELIEVE that the powerful, crazy huge voice I’d been singing along to came out of that teeny tiny body. Misty’s music rocks my world. Literally. She sings songs that are straight out of the bible, cut straight to the heart, and cut straight to the heart of God. Her worship leaves you speechless, shouting at the top of your lungs at the same time, and aching to see God face to face. If you don’t know who these people are, and you’re interested, you should totally check them out….
PPS. It’s Friday at 11:30 when I’m “posting” this. I wrote it last night so that I could be “prepared”. I just packed my bags. Like, I was still wearing pj’s and wasn’t packed at 11am.
