30 before 30

I’m turning 30 ya’ll…like, soon! Well, at the time of writing this, it’s still a ways away…but, still! Soon! So, I came up with a list of adventures to send my 20′s out with a bang. Here’s my “30 before 30″…

1 – Go on a roadtrip somewhere I’ve never been. The first thing that comes to mind is Key West…because that’s a dream of mine…but my only real requirement is “somewhere I’ve never been”. **Completed** Key West didn’t happen, but I did make it up to Savannah to see my friend Brittney back in September.

2 – Do something creative that I wouldn’t normally do. **Completed. I started really writing again. Haven’t done that in years!**

3 – Dance with the guy who holds the sign at the Town Center. {You have to live in Jax to understand this one…but there will be pictures, or video, so you can thoroughly enjoy the awkwardness of this one.} **Ah.. the timing never worked out on this one. Bummer**

4 – Get paid to do photography. **Had a client, but then it fell through. Major bummer**

5 – Read a classic. ** I read The Hunger Games, and Redeeming Love, does that count? Also The Voice In The Wind series**. I read, basically, is what I’m saying.

6 – Make a nice design cake {think cake boss…but much more simple} **Will be Completed next week!**

7 – Sing karaoke in a public place ***Completed 7/1/11 @ The Pearl, Spice Girl “Wannabe”***

8 – Finish a project I started a long time ago. {first thought…scrapbook from my honeymoon} **Completed. Not the scrapbook, but I did succeed {partially} in a container garden this year. Which I’ve tried 2 years in a row, and never finished.**

9 – Slide down the pole at a fire station. **I got knocked up instead.**

10 – Volunteer somewhere I’ve never volunteered before. **Completed! Working with Rethreaded ministries.**

11 – Learn a magic trick and perform it for someone I don’t know. {This came up twice, so it’s a must} **Nope**

12 – Learn how to do the robot and do it, in public. **Will be completed on my 30th birthday**

13 – Get a new tattoo. {This one is potentially negotiable. I might swap it with something else.} **I got knocked up instead**

14 – Drink Scotch. {A whole drink, not just a sip….this will probably happen directly before #7} **I got knocked up instead**

15 – Do a giveaway on my blog. **Completed 9/28/11**

16 – Lose 30 lbs. {I’ve never in my life had a weight loss goal…this should be good.} **I lost a total of 21 before getting pregnant, and then 8 since getting pregnant… so, I’m gonna say “Completed”**

17 – Buy a domain name for my blog. **Completed August 2011**

18 – Participate in “Girls Night Out” at least 5 times. **Completed, although I can’t give you the dates… but this did happen**

19 – Read through the Bible from front to back. **Nope. Made it through 1 Kings twice**

20 – Get a makeover. **Nope, although, getting one on my birthday sounds like a FABULOUS idea!**

21 – Have an even tan. Preferably a dark tan, especially on my legs. **COMPLETED!!!! For the first time in my life, I have an EVEN tan! It’s not dark… but it is even! Meaning, all the way up to my hips on my legs and under my arms**

22 – Have a day at a spa. {I’m 29 and I’ve never done this before. Lame.} *Nope, Friday I’ll be 30 and I still haven’t done this yet.**

23 – Eat a salad that I grew. **Soon! I have a tomato growing, but I need to replant my lettuce**

24 – Not cringe at the thought of health food. **Completed! I got knocked up, which makes me CRAVE health food… so, I had help with this one.**

25 – Paint a wall {or walls} in my house a neutral-ish color. {Which means, pick out the color b/c Brad owes me a paint job} **My bathroom is a neutral color… does that count?**

26- Explore a part of Jacksonville I’ve never been to before. **Nope**

27 – Go hiking. **Nope**

28 – Make a digital scrapbook of Zoe’s first year. **Completed, April 5th for my mother’s birthday. It was AWESOME!**

29 – Learn how to edit photos. **Completed! Although I could stand to learn a TON more!**

30 – Make a meal that one of the cooks on the Food Network does. **Completed. Anybody remember my fried chicken post?**

All in all… 17ish with a possible 18 if I get that makeover on Friday. And even more if you count the “Read a classic book” and my bathroom as neutral. Not too shabby… not too shabby…

  1. Your first point should definitely be Germany! : )

  2. I love this idea…I just may have to come up with my own list!

  3. This is really fun…wish you were closer. I’d clue you in on the photography stuff. I want to do this, but now that I actually turned the big 3-0, I’d have to do 40 before 40…that just sounds scary!

  7. This is a great and fun idea! Since I only have 3 months until 40, I don’t think I’ll get to do a 40 by 40…..but maybe I’ll list a 40 to be done in 40?
