The Highlight Reel

So many fun moments of the week:

- If you ask Zoe how old she is, she’ll happily respond with “twoooo” and then hold up all five fingers on one hand while trying to manipulate the right fingers in place with the other hand. So far, she still hasn’t figured that one out.

- I’m fairly certain that she’s going to be left-handed… I don’t know when that whole thing is decided, but she’s certainly favoring her left hand for lots of things.

- Tuesday night, Brad and I took Zoe to Toys R Us to pick out her birthday present. She picked out the bright pink Cadillac Jeep thing. It only cost $500… no big deal. We got her a little wagon with blocks instead. That was $15, much more our style.

- Also on Tuesday? We started the countdown to Slade joining us. Going to sleep was so hard just thinking of the fact that within the month, we’ll be holding him in our arms. Ah! It’s so exciting!

- I am exhausted. Exhausted. I go to bed exhausted, I wake up exhausted, I’m exhausted almost every moment in between. I have the energy supply right now of a sloth. It’s fun, let me tell you…

- Also on Tuesday? A cockroach ran into the house while Brad was letting Avery out, and you should have seen the chaos that ensued! He was doing the cockroach dance around the living room chasing it, and I was standing on the couch acting as the lookout/cockroach killing coach. It was awesome. We found him, and Brad killed him dead… he’s just the best, that guy.

- I looked around my house yesterday and made a mental list of everything I wanted to get done/clean. It was a long list… this isn’t good people. This means nesting is right around the corner. This means I’m about to thoroughly scare the crap out of Brad again. And, if you read two bullet points up… I’m exhausted.

- Ah, I’m sure you heard about the big hubalo over Chick-fil-A last week. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to absolutely go off about that whole drama. I didn’t, except for one night to Brad, and I was pretty proud of myself. Even now, I still want to rant about it. Oh, it just ticks me off!

- Sometime last week, and I’m not sure when, I decided that whoever the person is who invents a pain-free catheter that women in their 3rd trimester can use at night would probably make a bajillion dollars because every pregnant woman would buy one. Guaranteed.

- Also, at some point last week Zoe asked me for a drink and so, like a good mom, I grabbed one out of the fridge and poured it into her sippy cup and then set the rest on the table because in like 10 minutes I know she’s going to ask me for more. Zoe looks at me and says, “No Mom”, picks up the drink, opens the fridge door and puts it right back in its place. That girl has way too much of her dad!

- We’ve massively regressed in potty training… partly my fault, partly another story that I’ll get to later this week… but over the weekend Brad and I said “Adios” to the Pull-Up with the exception of naps and bedtime. It’s been fun. Real fun.

- Saturday, we ran some errands {mostly for the children’s room} and it took 3 hours. 3 hours in which neither Brad or I had our phones and so we didn’t ever know what time it was. 3 hours that spanned lunch and nap, but we didn’t stop for either. It was also somewhere above 90 degrees and raining. We were a car full of tired, hungry people by the time we walked back in our house. It took me a large glass of ice water, lunch and a 2 hour nap to partially recover from that trip… only to have to go out for round 2 an hour later. This time though, we stopped for dinner.

- 4 out of the past 4 nights, Avery has walked into Zoe’s room while we’re saying our bedtime prayers and laid down in the middle of the room. Zoe hops out of bed to kiss Avery goodnight, which she allows, and then when Brad and I leave, Avery just stays laying down… I think that dog is possessed, because that is not the Avery that we used to know.

- Going back up to looking around my house and making a mental list… that list was put to paper and then executed over the weekend, or rather, on Sunday. It was a crazy productive day… one that I’m paying for today. =)

Happy Monday Ya’ll!
