Happy Birthday Sweet Girl, we love you more than words can ever express. You fill our days with delight and our hearts with more love than we ever thought possible. Loving you is one of our greatest joys in life. ZoeBear, you are the answer to every prayer we prayed and all the prayers we didn’t even know to pray. Thank you for blessing us with your life.

We love you to the moon and back,
Mommy and Daddy

One very incredible weekend

It’s 10pm on Sunday night, Brad is straightening up after the last of our family left. My body has long since exhausted it’s energy supply, and I’m catching up on Facebook. The Olympics are on the TV, it’s swimming, one of my favorite sports. Zoe has been asleep for an hour, absolutely exhausted from late bedtimes 2 out of 3 nights this weekend, and long days in-between. Our house is quiet. But remnants of the weekend are all around.

There’s a new baby doll sitting in the corner, right beside another new baby doll, a new beach chair, a new reading chair for her little reading nook, and there’s a massive new pile of clothes in another corner. The backyard has a brand new baby pool, complete with a slide and some type of built in sprinkler, and I’m assuming that the new pool toys are probably still out there. It’s a little obvious that Zoe is spoiled rotten. We celebrated her 2nd birthday today. Two years of glorious life. The party itself was low-key, but the celebration of Zoe wasn’t. Our house was full, but in the best possible way. Zoe was the center of attention, which is exactly where she likes to be, surrounded by her family… her very favorite people on the face of the earth. {Due to the fact that I’m extremely pregnant, when I say “low-key”… I mean looooooooooow key. No decorations. No big production. The guest list was immediate family plus her 2 best boy friends. The menu was hot dogs and fruit salad. Low key.} It was absolutely perfect, in every way.

When I look up from the computer to Brad, who’s still in the kitchen, my eyes catch sight of the most amazing diaper cake ever… courtesy of Kristin. I put it on the counter because I just wanted to look at it a little longer before I disassembled it and put everything in it’s proper place. Down the hall, in the guest room, there are bags upon bags of little boy paraphernalia stacked up in a corner, just waiting to be sorted through, oohed and aaahed over again, and then put away. Kristin and Jessica threw Slade’s shower yesterday and it was amazing. Kristin’s house was full of friends, it seems like no matter how many people we invite, the perfect amount always show up. It’s always amazing to look around a room and see so many people, from so many different stages/places in our lives. There were friends we’ve known for over a decade and friends we just made, and the knowledge that we’re surrounded by such an amazing circle of friends is just incredible. If you remember, a few weeks ago I mentioned that I hadn’t even started getting things ready for Slade… we’re now overflowing with little boy stuff. The nursery is stocked. Drawers are stocked. Furniture, car seat, double stroller… done. the only things left are a cradle {which, I have a pack-n-play if I don’t find one} and a glider. That’s it. Oh, and a cuddly little boy who we’re just oh-so-ready to meet.

If I were to get up from the couch and walk in the kitchen, which I’m in no hurry to do, I would find a refrigerator, freezer and pantry stocked with food courtesy of my parents. It’s overwhelming how they come in at just the right time, and surprise us with a kitchen full of groceries. If you ask my mom, she’ll say her dad taught her how to do it. But, if you ask me… it’s just because they’re awesome. I genuinely hope that I love my kids the way that my parents loved theirs.

Our bodies tonight, are exhausted.

But our hearts?

Our hearts are full. Very very full.

Happy Monday Ya’ll!

PS. Also, this weekend, we attended an Olympics opening ceremonies party and it was potentially one of the coolest ideas for a party ever! I loved every single thing about it! Every couple represented a different country and brought food/dressed accordingly. The menu was incredibly diverse, and the people who actually dressed up {yours truly not included due to poor planning} had amazing outfits. Also? Ashley, the hostess, made these little strawberry treats that were UNBELIEVABLY A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

PPS… I should probably clarify that I still don’t have the kids room decorated, but I’m not in any rush to do that. I should probably, at some point, buy the sheets for their beds. But, in the meantime, we have some great stand-in sheets. Little by little, piece by piece that room is going to come together, and when it does… it’s going to be awesome. But, like the whole rest of the house, I’m decorating it one piece at a time.
